Adult Programs and Activities

Adult Classes

Adults interested in sailing 420s are welcome to join our June Sailing Clinic with our Junior Sailors. See the “June Clinic” information under the “Sailing” tab.

Adult Swim for Fitness
We will offer a swimming for fitness program for our adult swimmers, ages 16 and up. This class will focus on swim endurance, fitness swim/aquatic exercise, and swimming as cross training for other sports, as well as identifying currents and water safety precautionary measures. This class is not intended for lifesaving certification nor does it take the place of such a certification program. Class will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00 to 8:55am.  Class will initially meet at Main Beach, wet suits or other swim attire for warmth is recommended.

Our Intermediate/Advanced Golf class is for those 13 to adult who have mastered basic swings and are able to hit the ball with some accuracy but require further instruction to improve their game.  This class builds on those skills and includes further instruction in chipping and putting, and emphasis on golf etiquette.  This class meets primarily at the GLP putting green on North Street from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.  Participants do not need to have their own equipment though it is strong encouraged.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding
Clinics in this popular new sport will be offered in July and August.  (See the Class Schedule for exact dates and times.)  The clinic will be divided into on-land instruction including safey, sizing equipment, and technique; and on-water instruction including getting on the board, paddling, transition to feet, turning and stopping, and rules of water and safety.  The instructional portions of the clinic will be followed by a class fun paddle. The location will be based on weather and tides—you will receive this information once it’s determined.

Our yoga class is a slow flow vinyasa class that is a thoughtful sequence of postures and conscious breath that build strength, flexibility, and balance.  It is open to all and meets on the porch Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:00 to 8:55. This is a drop-in class for which prior registration is not required.  We ask you pay each day on a per class basis.

If you would like to crew on one of our beautiful A-Boats, we will be offering an on-line sign-up to do so.  Keep an eye on your email as summer approaches.

Adult Social Activities

The Yacht Club offers a variety of events for adults.  Social events include our popular cocktail parties plus at least one other major event each month. These have included wine tastings, comedy nights, themed dances, scavenger hunts, and other fun events.  Each month also includes a Dinner on the Porch, a casual bring-your-own (food and beverage) event with light entertainment.  July also features our very popular Family Night, held under a tent at South Beach and featuring assorted activities for children.  You can bring your own food, or buy from the vendors there.  Family Night is followed by fireworks off of Main Beach. If you would like to donate to the fireworks, please use the “Fireworks Donation” link on our home page.  The fireworks are funded only through your generous annual donations.  No other Yacht Club funds are used for this purpose, nor are fireworks donations used to fund other Yacht Club events.

You must be a Yacht Club member to purchase tickets for these events.  Members may purchase tickets for guests for most of these depending on capacity, cost, and other considerations.  All events are listed on our calendar, and additional ticket purchasing and pricing information will be available prior to each event during the summer.

Other adult events open to our members have included bocce, card nights, volleyball, and sailing races.  These events vary each summer so be sure to check the calendar for details.
