Commissioning and Hello Summer (June 29) – The traditional start to our summer, we’ll gather at the flagpole at 6:15 for our annual commissioning ceremony, and then move to Clark Hall for the Hello Summer Cocktail Party from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Patrons, Young Patrons, and Commodore’s Club members are free, members are $10, and guests are $25.  To speed up entry, regular members can purchase tickets on-line for themselves before the event; members in all patron categories can purchase guest tickets as well.

Dinners on the Porch (July 17, August 14) – BYO food, drink, place settings, and table decorations for a casual evening.  Light entertainment is provided on a “pass the hat” basis.  Please sign up in the YC office the week before if you’d like to reserve a table.

Tiki Time Adult Dance (July 13) - Celebrate carefree days and warm summer nights at this year's July tropical themed adult party.  Starting at 8:00 p.m., socialize and dance at the Yacht Club with your neighbors and friends.  Wine, beer, a signature cocktail and set-ups are provided. Tickets in advance are $20 for members and $25 for guests—buy them early as they’ll go fast. Hawaiian shirts and tropical themed clothing optional!

Patrons’ “Thank You” Brunch (July 14) – Commodore’s Club members, Patrons, and Young Patrons are invited to a special brunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to thank you for your additional support of the Yacht Club.

Family Night (July 20) – One of GLP’s perennial favorites, join the fun from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. including the Dunk Tank, SUMO wrestling, bungee run, wrecking ball, rock wall, obstacle course, and Velcro Wall. There will be plenty for the little ones too: things to jump on and slide down, a ball pit, and face painting.  There will also be crafts, dancing, cotton candy, popcorn, and more for all ages!  Food will be available for purchase or you can bring your own.  BYOB; soda and water will be provided.  Event tickets are $10 per ticket for adults and $20 for kids (ages 3-18) until July 19th, and $25 for everyone after that.  Tickets can be purchased through the website and in the office once the season starts.  Please note that for safety reasons, children under ten must be accompanied by an adult or age appropriate caregiver.

Fireworks (July 20) - After Family Night, head over to Main Beach to watch our annual fireworks show, starting at 9:00.  Please consider contributing to the show, which is funded ENTIRELY by your donations, through our website (, by mailing your donation (check made payable to “GLPYC”) to P.O. Box 3740, GLP, CT 06340, or by stopping in the office during the season.  We can’t do it without your support! Be sure to indicate how you would like your name listed when we publish our fireworks “thank you” list in the GLP News.

Halloween in July (July 27) – We’ll be importing a fall holiday this summer with Halloween in July, a fun event for all ages, 0 to 80+!  Everyone is encouraged to wear costumes, decorate their houses in spooktacular fashion, and get ready to trick or treat around GLP.  Start putting your costumes together, planning your haunted house, hosting a party with your neighbors, or simply trick or treating.

Art Show (August 4) – Here’s your chance to buy arts and crafts from GLP and other local artists.  The show runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Anyone interesting in exhibiting should fill out the application below. The fee to exhibit is due upon approval. The fee scale is as follows: $15 for GLPYC members, $20 for all other GLP residents, and $25 for non-residents.

Garden Green Adult Dance (August 10) – Continuing the color theme of the last several years, this year’s August adult social event will feature the color green. Starting at 8:00 p.m., relax and dance the night away to the music of hot band “Fever.” Wine, beer, and set-ups are provided. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for guests—buy them early as they’ll go fast. green or flower-themed clothing optional!  

Tacos, Tequila, and Tecate (August 17) – Join us at 6:00 p.m. to taste a variety of tequilas and Mexican beers (including Tecate) along with tacos and other southwestern flavored foods.  Keep your eye out for details.

Lighting of the Point (August 17-24) – Light up your house, dock, boats, trees, and anything else you’d like in the fourth year of this community-organized event.  Exercise your creativity and let’s see the Point sparkle and shine!

Goodbye Summer (August 24) – Celebrate the end of another great summer at our Goodbye Summer cocktail party.  Patrons, Young Patrons, and Commodore’s Club members are free, members are $10, and guests are $25.  Please bring an appetizer to share.
