Youth Activities

Our youth members are kept busy with a variety of activities for different age groups.  For the youngest set, ages four to nine, Monday nights feature the Kiddie Dances, a long-time GLP tradition.  Kiddie Dances are held in Clark Hall from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. One Monday each month is either the Costume Dance or the Hat Dance.  Children can participate singly or in groups, and creativity is strongly encouraged!  Meet at the lifeguard stand at Main Beach for a parade to Venetian before heading to Clark Hall for the dance and prizes.

Tweens (ages ten to twelve) and teens (ages 13 and up) have their own activities.  These include everything from the popular, GLP-wide scavenger hunt to board game nights to teen movies to age-specific dances. Days, activities, and locations may vary so check the calendar for details.  We also have an extensive slate of off-point activities for these groups.  See the Tweens and Teens page for details, including outing descriptions, age ranges, prices, etc.  You can sign up for these activities as part of the registration process.  Please note that these activities are for members only.  You must have a bracelet (available in the Yacht Club office at the beginning of each month) for the appropriate age group in order to participate.

The sports-minded have a variety of options.  On Friday afternoons each month, there are a series of meets:  track, novelty (both at the sports field), and swim (South Beach).  Children ages four to twelve can participate in these meets.  Other sports activities such as volleyball (volleyball court) dodgeball (at the sports field), and a three-on-three basketball tournament may also be offered.  Check the calendar for details on the dates, activities, and ages.

On Friday nights, parents can take a little time off while their children enjoy the Kiddie Movies at 7:00 p.m. in Clark Hall. There is a minimal fee, and the movies (all G or PG rated) are listed on our calendar.  Teens have their own movies at 9:00 p.m. on select Friday nights—check the calendar for details.

While they vary from year to year, there are other activities offered to youth and families—bingo, cards, or a dance, for example.  Please check the calendar and the website for details.
